Job summary

Pena4 Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote, full-time role. The candidate should have 5+ years of IP PCS coding experience and 3+ years OP coding experience, with CCS certification required. An IP/OP coding assessment will be administered to qualify for the position.

Responsibilities include accurate diagnosis/procedure coding, DRG optimization, and staying updated on coding guidelines. Start date is immediate and tests may be required before hire.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of inpatient PCS coding experience required.
• CCS certificate is required.
• Schedule: full-time hours.
• Start date: immediately.
• IP and/or OP assessment tests required to complete and pass.

Responsibilities

• Examines the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and complications.
• Accurately sequences diagnoses and procedures, maintaining 95% accuracy.
• Strives to obtain optimal DRG assignments with assistance of computer system.
• Maintains productivity and quality levels.
• Contacts staff or leadership when more information is needed for accurate coding.
• Keeps current on coding guidelines and shares knowledge with colleagues.
• Completes assignments as directed by management.
• Pursues continuing education.
• Works as a team member to meet goals.
• Performs related duties or special projects as assigned.
