Job summary

Pena4 Inc is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote role. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and strong proficiency with ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS, and DRG logic. The position requires CCS certification and regular day-shift hours on weekdays.

The coder will utilize Cerner, PowerChart, 3M, and EPIC systems to ensure accurate coding across inpatient and outpatient records, starting immediately after passing required assessments.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of IP PCS Coding experience required.
• At least 3 years OP Coding experience preferred.
• CCS certificate is required.
• Schedule: Weekdays, full-time hours.
• Shift: Regular day shift hours.

Responsibilities

• Examines the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and complications.
• Sequences diagnoses and procedures to support accurate coding.
• Strives to obtain optimal DRG assignments with system assistance.
• Maintains productivity and quality at a consistent level.
• Holds accounts when more information is needed for accurate code/DRG assignments and contacts appropriate staff.
• Keeps current on coding guidelines by reviewing literature and sharing updates with colleagues.
• Completes assignments as directed by management.
• Pursues continuing education and professional development.
• Collaborates with team to meet department and client goals.
• Performs related duties or special projects as assigned.
