Job summary

Pena4 Inc is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder (CCS certified) for a 100% remote, full-time role. The candidate should have at least 5 years of IP PCS coding experience and 3 years OP coding preferred, with a CCS certificate required and immediate start.

The role requires proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS CPT, and familiarity with Cerner, PowerChart, 3M, and EPIC systems. A coding assessment will be administered as part of consideration.

Qualifications

• IP/OP Coding Specialist demonstrates proficiency in coding all types of inpatient and outpatient accounts.
• Uses ICD-10-CM and PCS, HCPCS CPT and other coding references to ensure accurate coding.
• CCS certification is required for the role.

Responsibilities

• Examines the complete medical record to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
• Accurately sequences diagnoses and procedures with high accuracy.
• Strives to obtain optimal DRG assignments for coded records.
• Maintains productivity and quality at a consistent level.
• Contacts staff or leadership when more information is needed for accurate coding.
• Keeps current on coding guidelines and shares updates with colleagues.
• Completes assignments as directed by management.
• Pursues continuing education and works as part of a team to meet goals.
• Performs related duties or special projects as assigned.
