Job summary

Datavant is seeking an Inpatient Auditing Specialist to address coding quality, compliance reviews, and education. This fully remote role offers a flexible schedule from your home workspace and may include PRN support for IA IP auditing. Spinal experience and strong query writing are a plus; preference for about 20 hours per week.

You will be auditing inpatient facility coding, explaining changes with references, and staying current on regulatory standards while maintaining high accuracy.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of facility inpatient coding experience and/or auditing.
• CCS (required), RHIA or RHIT preferred
• Maintain 95% DRG accuracy rate
• Experience with Epic, Cerner, and other prevalent EMRs.

Responsibilities

• Performs Inpatient Facility coding audits according to scope of work for onboarding, focused reviews or SLAs using MS DRG/APR DRGs.
• Provides rationale with references and documentation locations for identified changes.
• Keeps abreast of regulatory changes.
• Organizes and prioritizes multiple cases to optimize workflow and turnaround time.
• Educates coders via the auditing process.
• Functions professionally, efficiently, and positively.
• Adheres to AHIMA code of ethics.
• Demonstrates customer service, professionalism, flexibility, and commitment to excellence.
• Handles high complexity of work and decision making.
• Demonstrates strong organizational, teamwork, and leadership skills.
