Job summary

Datavant is seeking an Outpatient Auditing Specialist to audit outpatient facility records, educate on coding quality, and support compliance reviews in a fully remote setting with a flexible schedule. You will interpret ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes, justify adjustments, and stay current with regulatory changes.

This role emphasizes accuracy, ethics, and customer-focused problem solving. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of outpatient coding/auditing experience, CCS or RHIA/RHIT, and familiarity

Qualifications

• 5+ years of outpatient facility coding experience and/or auditing.
• CCS or RHIA/RHIT required.
• Maintains 95% accuracy rate.
• Experience with various software including Epic, Cerner, and other prevalent EMRs.

Responsibilities

• Performs Outpatient Facility coding audits of medical records and abstracts using ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers and appropriate coding references for accurate coding assignment.
• Provides rationale explaining the reasoning behind changes with specific references and documentation location.
• Keeps abreast of regulatory changes.
• Organizes and prioritizes multiple cases concurrently to ensure workflow and case resolution.
• Provides coder education via the auditing process.
• Adhere to AHIMA’s code of ethics.
