Job summary

Mosaic Life Care seeks an Inpatient Coder II to assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for acute care inpatient, rehab, swing bed and LTACH services. The role queries providers, resolves edits, analyzes documentation, and ensures coding accuracy per guidelines.

It also educates coders and collaborates with CDI and revenue integrity teams. Requires CCS/RHIA/RHIT certifications, HIM education, 3 years inpatient coding experience, and proficiency with EMR, Excel and encoder.

Qualifications

• Must have coding education with knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology and anatomy, query guidelines.
• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management / Medical Records or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management / Medical Records.
• 3 years of HIM inpatient acute care coding experience is required.
• CCS or RHIA or RHIT certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for acute care inpatient, rehab, swing bed and LTACH services.
• Query providers to improve documentation and demonstrate severity of illness and risk of mortality.
• Collaborate with CDI, revenue integrity and other departments to ensure accurate coding.
• Mentor and train coders and support coding quality and productivity goals.
