Job summary

Mosaic Life Care is seeking an Inpatient Coder II to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for acute care inpatient services, including LTACH. You will query clinicians for documentation and ensure alignment with coding guidelines and regulatory standards.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of HIM inpatient coding experience and hold CCS, RHIA or RHIT credentials. This role offers remote work eligibility for several states and a collaborative, analytics-driven environment within a health system.

Qualifications

• 3+ years HIM inpatient acute care coding experience.
• CCS/RHIA/RHIT credentials required or equivalent.
• Ability to query and educate providers per Official Guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Codes complex diseases, procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10-CM/PCS for inpatient services.
• Queries providers following Official Query Guidelines to improve documentation and show severity of illness and risk of mortality.
• Assigns MS-DRG and APR-DRG per regulatory guidelines for inpatient services including LTACH.
• Collaborates with clinical documentation integrity, revenue integrity, patient financial services, quality improvement and other departments to ensure documentation accuracy.
• Mentors and trains coders; attains coding quality and productivity goals.
• Resolves intermediate coding edits and ensures data accuracy for regulatory agencies.
