Job summary

Baptist Health System, Inc. in Jacksonville is hiring a Full-time Inpatient Hospital Coder to join the Appeals & Denials Department.

This remote role requires coding inpatient diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 on applicable accounts, with adherence to state and federal requirements. The ideal candidate has RHIT/RHIA or CCS credentials, 3–5 years of coding experience, and strong problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills.

Qualifications

• Identify and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient accounts.
• Knowledge of CPT coding on Observation accounts when applicable.
• Submit abstracts to billing system for claim submission.
• Experience with ACHA, DNFB and denial management.
• Mentorship and auditing/training abilities.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes to patient accounts for inpatient care.
• Know CPT coding classification and edit resolution for Observation accounts.
• Verify and submit abstracted information to the billing system.
• Complete coding on 100% of discharged accounts daily to meet A/R goals.
• Work on ACHA, DNFB and post-bill error reports (rebills, edits, denials).
• Advise and coordinate with Management, CDI and HIM on coding documentation.
• Provide mentorship, auditing, and training support to coders and staff.
• Use encoder and EHR systems on a daily basis.
