Job summary

Baptist Health System, Inc. is seeking a Full-time Inpatient Hospital Coder for our Appeals & Denials Department. This remote role requires expert ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for inpatient accounts and CPT-4 coding for observations, with a focus on accuracy and timely submissions.

You will mentor Coders, CDI and HIM staff, collaborate with management, and utilize encoder software and EHR systems. RHIT/RHIA/CCS certification is required, with 3–5 years of coding experience, and you must work from

Qualifications

• Identify and assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS for inpatient accounts.
• Know CPT coding classification, edit resolution and CPT-4 on Observation accounts.
• Verify and submit abstracted information to the billing system for claim submission.
• Maintain 100% accuracy to meet coding A/R goals; work with ACHA, DNFB and denials as applicable.
• Provide mentorship, auditing, and training support to Coders, CDI and HIM staff.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 codes for inpatient and observation accounts.
• Submit abstracted data to billing systems in a timely, compliant manner.
• Collaborate with CDI, HIM and management on coding documentation and audits.
• Support staff through mentorship and training; identify process improvements.
