Job summary

Baptist Health System, Inc. is seeking a Full-time Inpatient Hospital Coder to join our Appeals & Denials Department. This role identifies and assigns diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS to inpatient accounts, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements.

The coder works with CPT-4 on Observation accounts when applicable and submits abstracts to the billing system. Candidates must have a High School Diploma and AHIMA credentials (RHIT or RHIA; CCS preferred) and 3–5

Qualifications

• AHIMA credentials required: RHIT or RHIA or CCS.
• 3–5 years coding experience in inpatient/hospital coding.
• ICD-10-CM/PCS coding knowledge required.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM/PCS for inpatient accounts.
• Know CPT coding for Observation accounts when applicable.
• Verify and submit abstracted information to billing system for claims.
• Maintain Coding AR goals with accurate daily coding of discharged accounts.
• Coordinate with CDI, HIM and management for coding accuracy and documentation.
