Affirm is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead projects on the Fraud Decisioning team. You will build tools and systems to empower fraud-fighting capabilities, collaborating with Product, ML, Analytics, and Business teams to monitor and improve performance. You’ll mentor engineers and drive initiatives across the organization.

The role emphasizes leadership, cross-functional impact, and ownership of complex systems in a remote-first environment with competitive compensation and equity opportunities.

Qualifications

• 6–10+ years of experience as a software engineer with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience architecting, building, launching, coding and maintaining complex systems.
• Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams including Product, ML, Analytics and Business teams.
• Strong mentoring and team-building capabilities; ability to set standards and guide others.

Responsabilités

• Plan and execute large cross-functional initiatives, including definition, specs, tasks, delivery, monitoring and maintenance.
• Write clear, high-quality code and designs; anticipate unhappy paths and ensure deployability.
• Review others’ work and provide constructive feedback to maintain quality standards.
• Lead and mentor engineers, helping them succeed and grow, giving context and ownership.
• Incorporate stakeholder needs, advocate ideas, and build shared understanding.
• Evaluate technical and soft skills to inform hiring decisions and contribute to interview content.
