Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead initiatives on the Fraud Decisioning team. You will build tools to empower fraud fighting capabilities, partner with cross-functional teams, and use data-driven decisions to improve risk deciders.

The role emphasizes mentoring engineers and delivering scalable, high-quality designs. As a technical leader, you will synthesize complex business and product requirements, guide system architecture, and help shape hiring decisions.

Qualifications

• 6-10+ years of software engineering with leadership responsibilities
• Experience architecting, building, launching, and maintaining complex systems
• Experience collaborating with Product, ML, Analytics and Business teams
• Ability to mentor engineers and promote best practices
• Skilled at translating requirements into scalable designs
• Strong system-thinking to break down business needs into modules

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute large cross-functional initiatives with clear specs and delivery milestones
• Write clean, well-structured code and design simple, robust solutions
• Review teammates’ work to maintain quality standards
• Lead and mentor engineers to accelerate growth and ownership
• Incorporate stakeholder needs and advocate for initiatives
