Affirm seeks a Staff Engineer to lead projects on the Fraud Decisioning team, building tools and systems that empower fraud fighting capabilities. You will collaborate with Product, ML, Analytics and Business teams to reduce risk while supporting growth.

You will mentor engineers, review designs, and help shape the technical direction. This role endorses a remote-first environment with strong emphasis on ownership and accountability.

Qualifications

• 6-10+ years of experience as a software engineer with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience architecting, building, launching, coding and maintaining complex systems.
• Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams including Product, ML, Analytics and Business teams.
• Skilled in synthesizing business, product and technical requirements into solid designs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute large cross-functional initiatives from definition to maintenance.
• Write clean, maintainable code and design simple, elegant solutions.
• Review others’ work and uphold high quality standards.
• Mentor engineers and help them grow by providing context and ownership.
• Incorporate stakeholder needs and advocate for initiatives with clear understanding.
• Lead technical content and interview requirements to influence hiring.
