Jobgether is seeking an experienced Manager of Data Engineering to lead a team of engineers in a remote‑first setting within the United States. You will translate architecture into scalable lakehouse pipelines, drive DataOps practices, and mentor engineers to deliver reliable, secure data products.

Key focus areas include Bronze/Silver/Gold data layers, Databricks/Spark tooling, and collaboration with business stakeholders to align platform strategy with delivery capacity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years in software or data engineering with production pipelines and platforms.
• 2+ years in technical leadership including team planning and reviews.
• Direct people management experience including hiring and performance reviews.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Databricks, Apache Spark, Boomi or Rivery, and Delta Lake patterns.
• Strong experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines, data ingestion, orchestration, and delivery across data layers.
• Proven Medallion architecture experience with Bronze, Silver and Gold layers and access controls.
• Ability to translate architecture into reusable patterns, standards, guardrails, and reliable production workflows.
• Experience with upstream SQL Server systems and non-disruptive data access strategies (CDC, read replicas).
• Knowledge of varied ingestion methods (APIs, change streams, file drops) and source contracts.
• Practical DataOps and modern software practices (CI/CD, code reviews, testing, monitoring, and operational docs).
• Track record of improving engineering maturity and repeatable execution via standards and documentation.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills with talent development.

Responsabilités

• Lead, manage, and develop a team of at least five data engineers with hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, coaching, and accountability.
• Translate enterprise data architecture strategy into actionable roadmaps, prioritized backlogs, sprint plans, and measurable delivery outcomes.
• Oversee day‑to‑day engineering execution by breaking initiatives into tasks, delegating responsibilities, removing blockers, and conducting technical reviews.
• Establish engineering standards that promote maintainability, documentation, and predictable delivery.
• Drive implementation of the Medallion architecture using Azure Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, SQL Server, dbt, Boomi, and Rivery.
• Partner with the Data Architect to translate principles into practical pipelines and guardrails.
• Establish DataOps practices including CI/CD, branching, releases, code reviews, and runbooks.
• Improve pipeline observability and reliability with monitoring for data freshness and quality.
• Collaborate with application and database teams to design efficient, non‑disruptive data access (CDC, read replicas).
• Design ingestion and transformation workflows for APIs, CDC-enabled databases, and file feeds.
• Work with stakeholders to clarify requirements, manage requests, and prioritize initiatives.
• Promote clear communication and lightweight documentation to drive ownership of actions.
• Build an engineering culture through mentoring, regular feedback, and succession planning.
• Drive continuous improvement to raise team maturity, efficiency, and collaboration.
• Support broader strategic initiatives while upholding integrity and professionalism.
