Job summary

ProAg, a member of Tokio Marine HCC, seeks a remote Business Development Manager to recruit crop insurance agents in the eastern U.S. You will travel up to 70% to cultivate partnerships, expand the current agent base, and drive profitable premium growth while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years in sales, with Crop Insurance experience preferred. Remote work within the U.S. and extensive travel are key aspects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business/Marketing or related field.
• 6 years of progressive sales experience.
• Crop Insurance experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Quickly develop relationships with prospective crop insurance agents in South Dakota or Iowa and recruit them to place their business with ProAg.
• Work with currently appointed crop insurance agents to place more of their business with ProAg.
• Identify agents that best fit culture, profitability, and geography to grow profitable business.
• Be willing to travel extensively and flexibly to meet sales goals.
• Drive profitable growth through sales efforts and agent-focused marketing initiatives as a trusted advisor.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities with new agents via cold calling, networking, trade shows, and partnerships.
• Monitor competitors, industry trends, and client insights to shape ProAg’s competitive advantage.
• Conduct targeted sales outreach to prospective agents, cultivating long-term relationships aligned with ProAg’s objectives.
• Collaborate with agents to deliver tailored solutions addressing business needs and profitable premium growth.
• Continue to cultivate strong relationships with current books of business through on-site visits and issue resolution.
• Develop and maintain database of current and prospective producers.
• Maintain understanding of crop insurance business and ProAg’s SRA.
• Ensure compliance with policies and regulations including SCD/ARD/PRD and accounting cutoff.
• Track producer quote ratio, close ratio, renewal persistency, and loss ratio; adjust strategy as needed.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, product, finance, and operations.
