Job summary

Jackson Hewitt is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to independently manage a diverse portfolio of client accounts, performing full reconciliations, payroll, and fixed-asset tasks with strong organizational skills. The role offers remote work options and requires at least 3 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience.

Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Google Workspace, plus relevant Intuit/QBO certifications, are strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of progressive bookkeeping experience.
• Intermediate to advanced understanding of core bookkeeping principles and internal controls.
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive Reconciliations: Full monthly bank, credit card, and loan statement reconciliations.
• General Ledger Maintenance: Post journal entries, maintain fixed asset registers, depreciation schedules.
• Advanced AP/AR Operations: Vendor payments, AR aging analysis, proactive collections workflows.
• Payroll Execution: Regular payroll cycles, accurate calculations, year-end/payroll tax filings support.
• Account Autonomy: Maintain timely records for multiple client accounts with minimal oversight.
• Work Review: QA and review entries prepared by junior staff to ensure accuracy.
• Specialized Accounting Projects: Lead historical clean-up efforts and targeted financial projects.
