Job summary

Affirm, a remote-first fintech, is seeking a Software Engineer to design and build a reliability platform for production systems. You will blend distributed systems engineering with AI-assisted development to help teams understand, debug, and improve health of services.

You will own quarterly goals, collaborate across product, design, and analytics, and lead by example. The role demands 4+ years of software engineering experience, work with Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes, and front-end

Qualifications

• Minimum 4+ years as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale with Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience shipping web apps with React or Vue.
• Practical use of LLMs or AI frameworks with guardrails and citations.
• Ability define a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple and extensible design.
• You write high quality code that is easily understood and used by others.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team and lead through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics in lifecycle planning and decision making.
• Identify and solve project, process, technology or business issues and lead in solving them.
• Support operations and availability of team artifacts by monitoring metrics and on-call efforts.
• Set or improve code review and design standards and advocate them beyond your team.
