Affirm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to build a next-generation reliability platform for production systems. You will design scalable backend services in Python/Kotlin, run in AWS, and apply AI-assisted development to improve health monitoring and incident response.

This remote-first role emphasizes hands-on coding, clear design, code reviews, and strong collaboration with product, design and analytics.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience shipping web apps with React or Vue.
• Practical use of LLMs or AI frameworks to enhance automation.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity and solving open-ended problems.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics; articulate constraints and trade-offs.
• Proactively identify issues and lead in solving them.
• Support operations and availability by creating and monitoring metrics and participating in on-call duties.
• Set or improve code review and design standards and evangelize them beyond your team.
• Develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance.
