Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Software Engineer to design and build a next-generation reliability platform for affirm’s production systems. You’ll blend distributed systems engineering with AI-assisted development to give teams a single place to understand, debug, and improve the health of their services.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
• Practical use of LLMs or AI frameworks to enhance automation with guardrails and citations.
• Ability to define a technical plan for delivery with elegant, extensible design.
• Proven ability to make significant changes in a large code base safely.
• Strong communication and collaboration across global teams.
• Equivalent practical experience or related Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, guiding engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics across the lifecycle.
• Identify and lead solving project, process, or technology issues.
• Support operations and on-call efforts, monitor metrics and escalate as needed.
• Set and improve code review and design standards across the team.
• Develop talent by giving feedback and guidance.
