Affirm is seeking a Software Engineer to design and build a next-generation reliability platform for affirm’s production systems. You’ll blend distributed systems engineering with AI-assisted development to give teams a single place to understand, debug, and improve the health of their services.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale with Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes.
• Experience shipping web apps with React or Vue.
• Practical use of LLMs or AI frameworks to enhance automation with guardrails and citations.
• Ability to define a technical plan for delivery of major features with simple, extensible design.
• Proven ability to make significant changes in a large codebase with safe tooling.
• Demonstrated ownership and proactive growth.
• Strong written and verbal communication for global teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team and guide engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product management, design and analytics on ideation and constraints.
• Identify and lead solutions for project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Support operations and availability by monitoring metrics and on-call efforts.
• Set and improve code review and design standards across teams.
• Develop talent by mentoring and leading by example.
