Job summary

ABB is seeking a senior Application Engineering Manager for Electrification Services (ELSE) to lead the U.S. AE organization in support of Commercial Operations and Sales. You will drive customer-focused technical solutions, ensure high-quality SOWs and JCEs, and build a high-performing engineering team to support growth objectives.

This is a remote position with travel 25% within the US. You will collaborate with Proposal Management and other ABB engineering teams to standardize solutions,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required and 12+ years relevant work experience.
• Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
• Willingness to travel 25% of the time within US.
• Experience in application engineering or field engineering in power delivery products and systems.
• Experience leading geographically dispersed technical teams.
• Experience with proposal development, SOW creation, and job costing.
• Background in field service, power systems engineering, or industrial electrical services.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing Application Engineering team by setting clear performance expectations, coaching employees, closing technical skill gaps, and implementing targeted development plans.
• Provide technical leadership and customer solution support across the ELSE portfolio, including strategic customer engagements, site assessments, solution development, and effective resource prioritization to ensure successful execution.
• Drive proposal excellence and operational effectiveness by ensuring high-quality SOWs and JCEs, improving inquiry-to-order processes, and partnering with Commercial Operations to enhance proposal quality and cycle times.
• Standardize and continuously improve engineering processes and capabilities through KPI management, solution and estimating libraries, digital tools and automation, process improvements, and the development of comprehensive technical training programs.
