Job summary

SMX is seeking a Mid-Level Site Reliability Engineer to architect, automate, and operate high-performance cloud infrastructure for AI/ML platforms. You will bridge MLOps and DevSecOps, deploying scalable cloud architectures for enterprise and government clients across commercial, private, hybrid, and government clouds.

This fully remote role is open to candidates across the United States, and you will act as a Technical SME, translating challenges into actionable architectures, supporting

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles.
• Ability to communicate complex infrastructure concepts directly to customer stakeholders, act as a technical SME.
• Strong operational proficiency with Kubernetes, including container networking, RBAC, Pod Security, and secrets management.
• Practical experience designing, deploying, and managing infrastructure across major cloud platforms with IaC tooling and Git workflows.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go for automation.
• Strong full-stack troubleshooting skills, security baselines familiarity (CIS, NIST, FedRAMP).

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and maintain highly available Kubernetes clusters across cloud environments.
• Serve as the technical SME on client engagements and support solution demos.
• Collaborate with delivery and account teams to scope, validate, and demonstrate AI/ML and DevSecOps architectures.
• Drive infrastructure automation using Terraform and GitOps with security guardrails from day one.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated container vulnerability scans and audit logging.
• Proactively monitor platform performance, participate in on-call rotations, and conduct root-cause analyses.
