Job summary

SMX is hiring a Mid-Level Site Reliability Engineer to architect, automate, and operate high-performance cloud infrastructure for AI/ML platforms. You will bridge MLOps and DevSecOps, deploying scalable architectures across commercial, private, and government clouds.

You will also act as a customer-facing SME, translating requirements into architectures, supporting technical scoping, and delivering runbooks and diagrams for operational excellence. Remote US-based role.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles.
• Ability to communicate complex infrastructure concepts to customer stakeholders and support demos/scoping discussions.
• Strong operational proficiency with Kubernetes, including networking, RBAC, Pod Security, and secrets management.
• Experience designing, deploying, and managing infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud with IaC tooling (Terraform) and Git workflows.
• Automation proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go for operational tooling.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across compute, storage, network, and app layers with security baseline familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and operate scalable AI/ML cloud infrastructure with high availability across cloud environments.
• Serve as a customer-facing SME translating mission challenges into actionable architectures.
• Collaborate with delivery and account teams to scope, validate, and demonstrate AI/ML and DevSecOps architectures.
• Drive automation with Terraform and GitOps, embedding security controls from day one.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with container security scanning and audit logging.
