Job summary

SMX is seeking a Mid-Level Site Reliability Engineer to architect, automate, and operate cloud infrastructure for AI/ML platforms. You will bridge MLOps and DevSecOps across commercial, private, hybrid, and government clouds, while serving as a customer-facing technical SME.

This fully remote role targets candidates in the United States. You will build scalable Kubernetes clusters, enable secure CI/CD pipelines, implement IaC with Terraform, and contribute runbooks and reference architectures

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles.
• Ability to communicate complex infrastructure concepts directly to customer stakeholders and act as technical SME.
• Strong operational proficiency with Kubernetes, including container networking, RBAC, Pod Security, and secrets management.
• Practical experience across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud with IaC tooling (Terraform) and Git-based workflows.
• Automation proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and maintain highly available Kubernetes clusters optimized for AI/ML training, inference, and GPU utilization.
• Serve as the technical SME on client engagements, consulting with stakeholders to assess requirements and demonstrate solutions.
• Collaborate with delivery and account teams to scope, validate, and demonstrate modern AI/ML and DevSecOps architectures.
• Drive infrastructure automation using Terraform and GitOps with security guardrails from day one.
• Build and maintain resilient CI/CD pipelines with automated container vulnerability scans and audit logging.
• Proactively monitor platform performance, capacity, and telemetry; participate in on-call rotations and post-mortems.
• Collaborate with engineering and security teams to enforce network segmentation, data isolation, encryption, and key management.
• Produce client-ready documentation, reference architectures, runbooks, and diagrams.
