Job summary

SMX is seeking a Mid-Level Site Reliability Engineer to architect, automate, and operate high-performance cloud infrastructure for AI/ML platforms. The role spans MLOps and DevSecOps across commercial, private, hybrid, and government cloud environments.

You will engage as a customer-facing SME, translating mission challenges into actionable architectures, supporting technical scoping, and delivering runbooks and reference diagrams. Remote across the United States.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of professional experience in SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering.
• Experience communicating complex infra topics to customer stakeholders.
• Kubernetes operations including networking, RBAC, Pod Security, and secrets.
• Cloud design and IaC with Terraform or equivalent tooling; Git-based workflows.
• Automation using Python, Bash, or Go for operations and tooling.
• Security baselines (CIS, NIST, FedRAMP) familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and maintain highly available Kubernetes clusters for AI/ML workloads.
• Serve as technical SME on client engagements, presenting solutions and scoping efforts.
• Collaborate with delivery and account teams to scope, validate, and demonstrate AI/ML architectures.
• Drive infrastructure automation using Terraform and GitOps patterns with security guardrails.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with vulnerability scans, artifact tracking, and audit logs.
• Monitor performance, capacity, and telemetry; participate in on-call rotations.
• Enforce network segmentation, data isolation, and robust encryption across pipelines.
• Produce client-ready docs, reference architectures, and runbooks for operations.
