Job summary

Guidant Financial is seeking a Retirement Plan Operations Specialist to join our fully remote team. You will learn to administer, test and report on 401(k) plans, reviewing documents and guiding clients through year-end reporting and IRS Form 5500 processes.

This role emphasizes accelerated learning, client communication, and accurate processing. You will work with clients nationwide, using Excel and our administration software to prepare filings and provide clear explanations of plan documents.

Qualifications

• Experience with document review and transaction processing as daily job responsibilities.
• 1 to 5 years of adjacent back-office financial operations experience in one or more areas: benefits administration, money movement and wires, insurance claims processing, tax prep processing, loan or mortgage document processing, or compliance or quality-control support.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Direct retirement-plan operations experience, including 401(k) or IRA administration, recordkeeping, distributions and rollovers, compliance testing, or 5500 or year-end reporting, is preferred.
• Experience with reconciliation as a daily job responsibility is preferred.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field such as business or finance, or equivalent work experience, is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of 401(k) plan structure, ROBS, and IRS/DOL regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with clients to obtain necessary information to prepare the annual reporting.
• Review documents submitted by clients for completeness and accuracy.
• Reconcile plans with only rollovers and plan stock using Excel and administration software.
• Utilize administration software to complete 401(k) testing and reporting.
• Make outgoing reminder calls and send emails to clients during the plan year reporting process.
• Prepare required 401(k) plan government filings, including the IRS Form 5500, using filing software.
• Educate clients regarding the administration of their 401(k) plan and 401(k) plan documents.
