Job summary

Guidant Financial is recruiting for a Retirement Plan Operations Specialist to join our fully remote team serving clients nationwide. You will learn to administer, test, and report on 401(k) plans, including year-end filings, through accelerated training and practical experience.

You will review client documents, perform plan reconciliations, and assist with IRS Form 5500 reporting while proactively updating clients on progress throughout the plan year.

Qualifications

• Experience with document review and transaction processing as daily job responsibilities.
• 1 to 5 years of adjacent back-office financial operations experience in one or more of the following areas: benefits administration, money movement and wires, insurance claims processing, tax prep processing, loan or mortgage document processing, or compliance or quality-control support.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Direct retirement-plan operations experience, including 401(k) or IRA administration, recordkeeping, distributions and rollovers, compliance testing, or 5500 or year-end reporting, is preferred.
• Experience with reconciliation as a daily job responsibility is preferred.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field such as business or finance, or equivalent work experience, is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of 401(k) plan structure, ROBS, and IRS/DOL regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with clients to obtain necessary information to prepare the annual reporting.
• Review documents submitted by clients for completeness and accuracy.
• Reconcile plans with only rollovers and plan stock using Excel and administration software.
• Utilize administration software to complete 401(k) testing and reporting.
• Make outgoing reminder calls and send emails to clients during the plan year reporting process.
• Prepare required 401(k) plan government filings, including the IRS Form 5500, using filing software.
• Educate clients regarding the administration of their 401(k) plan and 401(k) plan documents.
