Job summary

Guidant Financial is seeking a Retirement Plan Operations Specialist to learn the end-to-end process of administering, testing, and reporting on 401(k) plans. You will review client documents, communicate progress, and guide customers through year-end filings such as IRS Form 5500, while growing into more advanced responsibilities.

In this fully remote role, you will work with clients nationwide, leveraging Excel and administration software to perform testing, reporting, and compliance tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience with document review and transaction processing as daily responsibilities.
• 1 to 5 years of adjacent back-office financial operations experience in benefits administration, money movement, tax prep processing, loans, or compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Direct retirement-plan operations experience including 401(k) or IRA administration, recordkeeping, distributions and rollovers, compliance testing, or 5500/year-end reporting (preferred).
• Experience with reconciliation as a daily job responsibility (preferred).
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field such as business or finance, or equivalent experience (preferred).
• Basic knowledge of 401(k) plan structure, ROBS, and IRS/DOL regulations (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Work with clients to obtain necessary information to prepare the annual reporting.
• Review documents submitted by clients for completeness and accuracy.
• Reconcile plans with only rollovers and plan stock using Excel and administration software.
• Utilize administration software to complete 401(k) testing and reporting.
• Make outgoing reminder calls and send emails to clients during the plan year reporting process.
• Prepare required 401(k) plan government filings, including the IRS Form 5500, using filing software.
• Educate clients regarding the administration of their 401(k) plan and documents.
