Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Platform Operations Engineer to oversee change safety on a world-scale distributed compute platform. You will troubleshoot complex issues, drive process improvements, and collaborate across global teams while supporting both office and remote work in a hybrid model.

The role requires Linux/Unix experience, TCP/IP/networking knowledge, and strong communication. You will work 4:30 PM–12:30 AM EST in Cambridge for six months with potential 50/50 office/remote

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent.
• Experience administering, monitoring and resolving issues in a high-availability platform.
• Experience with Linux/Unix, SQL, and scripting languages.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, WAN, and DNS.
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork.
• Must be able to undergo USG Tier 3 background check.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in area of specialty.
• Identifying and implementing process and efficiency improvements in favor of change safety.
• Improving tools, alerts, documentation, and procedures in favor of change safety.
• Maintaining positive relationships across the teams.
• Collaborating with the global Change Safety Optimization team to maintain consistent workflows.
