Job summary

Akamai in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Platform Operations Engineer II to monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain a highly distributed platform. You will work with NOCC and engineers to ensure 24x7 global services run smoothly.

The role requires five years of UNIX administration experience, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and an active Secret clearance. Onsite work is expected at the Cambridge, MA office from Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Experience administering UNIX-based operating systems
• Experience with fault detection, troubleshooting, ticketing, escalation
• Ability to write SQL queries and understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, HTTP
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, reliability
• Active Secret security clearance
• Ability to work independently and own issues through resolution
• Onsite at Cambridge, MA office Monday–Friday

Responsibilities

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve platform issues via alerts, emails, and calls
• Collaborate with Engineers, Architects, Vendors, and Customers to isolate problems and improve stability
• Update and patch system software components and configurations
• Document work in trouble-ticketing system for communication and learning
• Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and tools
