Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Platform Operations Engineer II to support our NOCC and highly distributed platform. The role requires 24x7 coverage and collaboration with engineers, vendors, and customers to maintain operational stability.

Successful candidates will monitor, troubleshoot, and patch platform components while documenting work and maintaining procedures. Onsite work in Cambridge, MA is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Experience administering UNIX-based operating systems.
• Experience with fault detection, troubleshooting, ticketing, escalation.
• Ability to write SQL queries and understand TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, HTTP.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, detail-oriented, reliable.
• Active Secret security clearance.
• Ability to work independently and own issues through resolution.
• Onsite at Cambridge, MA, Monday–Friday.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring, troubleshooting, and correcting platform problems via alerts, emails, and calls.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, infrastructure vendors, and customers to isolate problems and improve platform stability.
• Updating and patching system software components and configurations.
• Documenting work performed in the trouble ticketing system for clear communication and learning.
• Developing and maintaining documentation, procedures and tools.
