Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. invites a Platform Operations Engineer to join our Platform Operations Team. You will drive change safety across large-scale networks, troubleshoot complex issues, and improve processes while coordinating with global teams.

The role emphasizes Linux/Unix administration, SQL scripting, and network fundamentals, with a six-month initial schedule in Cambridge, MA, followed by a hybrid/remote arrangement under our FlexBase program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field.
• Experience administering, monitoring and resolving issues in a high availability platform environment.
• Demonstrated Linux/Unix experience and understanding of SQL and scripting.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, WAN, DNS and network technologies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a changing environment.
• Willingness to undergo or possess a USG Tier 3 background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting and resolving complex issues in area of specialty.
• Identify and implement process improvements for change safety.
• Improve tools, alerts, docs, and procedures to support change safety.
• Maintain positive relationships across teams.
• Collaborate with the global Change Safety Optimization team for consistent workflows.
• Work 4:30 PM - 12:30 AM EST from Cambridge office for six months, then hybrid/remote.
