Akamai powers and protects life online. The Platform Operations Engineer in Cambridge leads change safety initiatives, troubleshoots high-availability systems, and coordinates with the Change Safety Optimization team to keep deployments smooth.

This role runs 4:30pm–12:30am EST, Mon–Fri, in the Cambridge, MA office, with FlexBase flexible working options. A bachelor’s degree and strong Linux/Unix, networking, and scripting skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant related technical field or its equivalent.
• Experience administering, monitoring and resolving issues in a high availability platform environment.
• Demonstrated experience with Linux/Unix, SQL and scripting.
• Knowledge of networking: TCP/IP, WAN and DNS.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and collaborate with teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to convey technical information.
• Must undergo or possess and maintain a USG Tier 3 background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in area of specialty.
• Identify and implement process and efficiency improvements for change safety.
• Improve tools, alerts, documentation, and procedures for change safety.
• Maintain positive relationships across teams.
• Collaborate with the Global Change Safety Optimization team to standardize workflows.
• Work 4:30pm - 12:30am EST, Monday to Friday, in the Cambridge, MA office.
