Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Platform Operations Engineer to manage change safety across our global network. You will troubleshoot complex issues, identify efficiency improvements, and collaborate with the Change Safety Optimization team to keep workflows consistent.

You will join a hybrid program with initial office time in the Cambridge, Massachusetts office (4:30 PM–12:30 AM EST, Monday–Friday) for the first six months, with potential for 50/50 office and remote work thereafter.

Qualifications

• Have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant related technical field or its equivalent.
• Experience administering, monitoring and resolving issues in a high availability platform environment.
• Experience with Linux/Unix systems and an understanding of SQL and scripting languages.
• Knowledge of network technologies and Internet protocols such as TCP/IP, WAN and DNS.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills; able to collaborate and solve problems in a changing environment.
• Must be able to undergo or possess and maintain a USG Tier 3 background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in area of specialty
• Identifying and implementing process and efficiency improvements in favor of change safety
• Improving tools, alerts, documentation, and procedures in favor of change safety
• Maintaining positive relationships across the teams
• Collaborating with our global Change Safety Optimization team to maintain consistent workflows across the group
• Working 4:30 PM - 12:30 AM Eastern Standard Time on Monday through Friday in the Cambridge, Massachusetts office for the first six months and can be 50% office and 50% remote after
