Job summary

UVM Health is seeking a Healthcare Access Associate to interview patients, collect essential demographic, clinical, and financial data, and accurately enter it into the hospital information system. Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate degree preferred in business or healthcare.
• Must enroll in medical terminology course and complete within 3 months or have medical terminology certificate or anatomy/physiology course with C or better.
• Microsoft Word course certificate required within 3 months or CVPH test.
• Microsoft Excel course certificate preferred.
• Must pass data entry test with 95% accuracy.
• Must become Certified Healthcare Access Associate within 24 months.
• One year of customer service experience; comfortable requesting copays/deductibles/coinsurance.
• Must enroll in basic coding course and complete within 3 months or have certificate/ transcript.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to collect demographic, clinical, and financial information and enter it into the hospital system.
• Protect patient information and handle confidential distribution of information.
• Take admission reservations from physicians' offices and ED and schedule tests/admissions.
• Communicate with ancillary and clinical departments as needed; perform telecommunication duties.
