Job summary

UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to join our on-site team. This part-time role (20 hours weekly) covers day shifts Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, 7:00 AM–11:00 AM, at our Main Campus.

Responsibilities include coordinating scheduling, registration, insurance and payer eligibility, and financial screening to ensure a smooth patient experience while supporting the hospital revenue cycle. Associates degree or vocational training is required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or vocational training in a relevant area; a combination of education and experience may be substituted.
• Requires at least one year of customer service experience in healthcare or related field.
• Ability to diffuse angry customers and maintain composure; excellent verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate scheduling, registration, insurance and payer eligibility management.
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families and visitors.
• Support revenue cycle by managing access-related workflows across information systems.
• Navigate multiple systems to support hospital operations and patient access.
