Job summary

SMX is seeking a Mid-Level Site Reliability Engineer to architect, automate, and operate high-performance cloud infrastructure for AI/ML workloads. You will bridge MLOps and DevSecOps, deploying scalable cloud architectures across commercial, private, hybrid, and government environments, while serving as a customer-facing SME.

This fully remote role is open to candidates nationwide in the United States. You will lead Kubernetes operations, IaC automation with Terraform, and secure CI/CD

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of professional SRE/DevOps/Platform Engineering experience.
• Proven ability to communicate complex infrastructure concepts directly to customer stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes, container networking, RBAC, Pod Security, and secrets management.
• Experience designing, deploying, and managing infrastructure across major clouds with Terraform or similar IaC tools; Git-based workflows.
• Automation proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Familiarity with security baselines (CIS, NIST, FedRAMP).

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and maintain highly available Kubernetes clusters optimized for AI/ML training, inference, and GPU utilization.
• Act as the technical SME on client engagements, consulting with stakeholders to assess requirements and demonstrate platform value.
• Collaborate with delivery and account teams to scope, validate, and demonstrate modern AI/ML and DevSecOps architectures.
• Drive infrastructure automation using Terraform and GitOps patterns with security guardrails from day one.
• Build and maintain resilient CI/CD pipelines featuring automated container vulnerability scans, artifact tracking, and audit logging.
• Proactively monitor platform performance, capacity, and telemetry; participate in on-call rotation and perform root-cause analyses.
• Collaborate with engineering and security teams to enforce network segmentation, data isolation, and robust encryption across data pipelines.
• Produce client-ready technical documentation, reference architectures, runbooks, and diagrams.
