Job summary

SMX is seeking a Mid-Level Site Reliability Engineer to architect, automate, and operate high-performance cloud infrastructure for AI/ML platforms. This role bridges MLOps and DevSecOps, deploying scalable architectures for enterprise and government cloud environments, and is fully remote across the United States.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles.
• Ability to communicate complex infrastructure concepts directly to customer stakeholders and act as a technical SME.
• Strong operational proficiency with Kubernetes, including container networking, RBAC, Pod Security, and secrets management.
• Experience deploying and managing infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud with Terraform and Git workflows.
• Automation scripting in Python, Bash, or Go for operational use.
• Familiarity with security baselines (CIS, NIST, FedRAMP).

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure for AI/ML workloads.
• Serve as SME on client engagements, explaining solutions and supporting scoping.
• Drive automation and CI/CD pipelines with security controls and logging.
• Collaborate with security and engineering teams on encryption, access control, and data isolation.
• Produce runbooks, reference architectures, and client-ready documentation.
