Job summary

SMX is seeking a Mid-Level Site Reliability Engineer to architect, automate, and operate cloud infrastructure for AI/ML platforms. You will be a customer-facing SME, bridging MLOps and DevSecOps to deliver scalable cloud architectures for commercial, private, hybrid, and government clouds.

The role is fully remote across the United States. You will design and deploy high-availability Kubernetes clusters, drive infrastructure automation with Terraform and GitOps, and lead secure, auditable

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles.
• Strong ability to communicate complex infrastructure concepts to customer stakeholders as a technical SME and support demos or scoping discussions.
• Kubernetes proficiency including container networking, RBAC, Pod Security, and secrets management.
• Experience across major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) with networking, IAM, encryption, security controls, and logging; Terraform or similar IaC tooling; Git-based workflows.
• Automation proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go for operational tooling.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and maintain highly available Kubernetes clusters across cloud environments for AI/ML workloads.
• Act as a client-facing SME, translating requirements into actionable architectures and supporting solution demos.
• Collaborate with delivery and account teams to scope and validate modern AI/ML and DevSecOps architectures.
• Drive infrastructure automation using Terraform and GitOps with built-in security controls and least privilege access.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated vulnerability scans, artifact tracking, and audit logging.
