Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Relay Field Technician to power the future of the electric grid through leadership in commissioning, testing, calibration, and repair of protective relays and control systems. The role involves interpreting substation diagrams, developing test plans, and overseeing field teams on projects across the US.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience with protective relaying, SCADA interfaces, and field service mentorship, with travel to client sites as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of field experience in commissioning, panel checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes.

Responsibilities

• Plan commissioning and resource scheduling with team leadership to avoid service interruptions.
• Interpret substation drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Develop isolation plans and functional guidelines for maintenance activities.
• Perform testing of relays, metering, alarms, and functions with SCADA integration.
• Lead and mentor junior field personnel on projects.
