Job summary

Qualus Corporation is seeking a Lead Relay Field Engineer to power the electric grid by calibrating, installing, maintaining, and repairing protective relays and related equipment. You will ensure safe, reliable operation of substations, SCADA, and associated control systems.

The role requires hands-on commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and mentoring field staff, with strong safety culture and ability to manage project teams in dynamic environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• Minimum of 5 years of field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes.
• Experience in substation design, construction, commissioning, SCADA/Fault Data/SER/Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing is desirable.
• Knowledge of 3 phase power systems, protection and control schemes, test equipment and software.
• Strong communication, safety awareness, and ability to work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Interprets project scope, plans commissioning, and leads test activities with safety adherence.
• Interprets substation drawings and develops testing procedures and guidelines.
• Writes procedures and test plans for maintenance and construction activities.
• Performs testing of relays, metering, SCADA, and alarms, and verifies function switches.
• Leads and conducts routine troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment.
• Provides technical support and mentorship to junior field personnel.
• Acts as subject matter expert in protective relaying and technical lead for small projects.
