Job summary

Qualus Corporation is seeking a Lead Relay Field Technician to power the electric grid with field engineering expertise in commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relay systems. The role involves leading teams, interpreting substation drawings, and performing complex testing across substations and SCADA-enabled equipment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes.
• Experience in substation design, protection & control engineering, SCADA/Fault Data/SER/Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing is desirable.
• Proficiency with 3 phase power systems, protection & control schemes, test equipment and related diagrams.
• Strong communication, safety awareness, and ability to work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project scope and plan commissioning, scheduling, and lead teams to complete test activities without service interruptions while following safety protocols.
• Interpret substation drawings (single line, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts).
• Develop isolation plans and functional guidelines; write procedures or test plans for maintenance and construction activities.
• Perform testing, including reading and verifying voltage/current inputs to relays, metering, calibrations, trip testing, and alarms.
