Job summary

Qualus Corporation is seeking a Lead Relay Field Technician to power the electric grid. You will calibrate, install, maintain, and repair protective relays and related systems in substations, with emphasis on field service and reliability.

You'll interpret diagrams, develop test procedures, perform calibrated tests, and lead small project teams while mentoring junior field staff. Strong communication and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of field commissioning, panel checkout, relay calibration, testing, and repair.
• Experience in protection and control engineering is desirable.
• Proficient with 3-phase power systems and protection schemes.
• Strong documentation and communication skills for safety-related materials.

Responsibilities

• Plan commissioning, schedule resources, and lead testing activities with minimal service interruptions.
• Interpret substation single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Write procedures and test plans for maintenance and construction activities.
• Conduct voltage/current checks, metering verification, relay calibration, and trip testing.
• Lead troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment; commission new substations.
• Provide technical support to field service personnel and mentor junior staff.
• Act as subject matter expert in protective relaying and technical lead for small projects.
