Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Relay Field Technician to calibrate, install, maintain, and repair protective relays and associated equipment for electric grid reliability. The role covers field service at substations and SCADA systems, with leadership for test activities and safety compliance.

Responsibilities include interpreting drawings, developing test plans, and supervising technicians. Travel to client sites is required, with potential relocation considerations and strong mentoring opportunities

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in commissioning, panel checkout, relay calibration and testing.
• Experience in substation protection and control schemes is desirable.
• Able to interpret single line drawings and schematics.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning and scheduling for testing activities with minimal interruptions.
• Interpret substation drawings and prepare isolation plans and guidelines.
• Develop test procedures and support maintenance and construction tasks.
• Perform relay calibration, testing, and troubleshooting for substations.
• Mentor junior field staff and provide technical support to the team.
• Act as SME in protective relaying and lead small project teams.
