Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Relay Field Technician to power the future of the grid. You will calibrate, install, maintain and repair protective relays and associated equipment, supporting safe, reliable operation of substations and SCADA-enabled systems.

Expect leadership roles, field testing, and collaboration with field service personnel. You will interpret drawings, write test plans, perform complex testing, and mentor junior staff while ensuring safety and schedule adherence across projects in

Qualifications

• 5+ years of field experience in commissioning, panel checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes.
• Experience in substation design, protection & control engineering, SCADA fault data or automation equipment installation/testing.
• 3 phase power systems, protection & control schemes, test equipment and wiring interpretation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project scope and plan commissioning, scheduling, and provide team leadership for testing activities.
• Read and interpret substation drawings (single line, schematics, panel layouts).
• Write procedures and test plans for maintenance and construction activities, including isolation guidelines.
• Conduct testing of relays, metering, alarms, and SCADA integration; verify functionality and safety.
• Lead troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment; commission new substations.
