Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead P&C Field Technician to drive field commissioning, calibration, and maintenance of protective relays and associated equipment across substations and SCADA systems. You will lead project testing, interpret complex diagrams, and mentor junior staff while ensuring safe, reliable grid operation.

The role demands expertise in testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of relay systems, with travel across US sites.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of field experience in commissioning, panel/ equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes.
• Experience in substation design, protection and control engineering, SCADA/Fault Data/SER/Integration-Automation is desirable.
• 3 phase power systems, protection and control schemes, test equipment and wiring interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Plan commissioning and resource scheduling with team leadership to complete test activities on time and without interruptions.
• Interpret substation drawings and schematics for commissioning work.
• Write procedures and test plans, including isolation plans and functional guidelines.
• Testing relays, metering, SCADA verification, trip testing, alarms and function switches.
• Lead troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment; commission substations and protection equipment.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to field service personnel.
