Job summary
Lake Superior Consulting is seeking an Electrical Power Engineer to design, analyze, and upgrade medium- and low-voltage power systems for industrial energy clients. You will lead on projects from concept through commissioning, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with clients and vendors.
Location flexible to hybrid or remote, with travel ~10%. The role emphasizes SKM/ETAP/EasyPower modeling, NEC/IEEE standards, and detailed design deliverables across studies, wiring diagrams, and equipment
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum 3 years of electrical power systems engineering experience in industrial, utility, or consulting.
- Experience designing or modifying medium- to low-voltage power distribution systems.
- Hands-on modeling in SKM/ETAP/EasyPower with field data.
- Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards for industrial power systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical scope on moderate to large projects; define scope, estimate hours, manage schedule.
- Design and review power distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, and control centers.
- Develop relay settings and protection coordination; produce settings files and test plans.
- Perform grounding studies; interpret soil resistivity and verify ground grids.
- Support field investigations, RFIs, and commissioning activities.
- Mentor engineers and coordinate with multi-discipline teams; interface with clients and vendors.
