Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking an Electrical Power Engineer to join our growing team. You will design, analyze, and upgrade medium- and low-voltage power distribution and generation systems for industrial energy clients, from concept through commissioning.

You will lead the electrical scope on projects, mentor engineers and designers, review studies and drawings, and coordinate with project teams and clients. The role offers flexible remote/hybrid work options with generous benefits.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of electrical power systems engineering experience in industrial, utility, or consulting environments.
• Experience designing or modifying medium-voltage (1 kV–38 kV) and low-voltage power distribution systems.
• Hands-on modeling and study experience with SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, EasyPower or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain power system models and perform load flow, short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, motor starting, harmonic and cable ampacity studies.
• Design and review protection settings, coordination for feeders, transformers, motors, generators, and bus protection.
• Develop grounding system designs per IEEE 80/81 and site soil resistivity.
• Produce design deliverables: one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring/interconnection diagrams, and plans.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, NESC, IEEE/ANSI standards and client specifications.
• Support field investigations, RFI responses, and site visits.
• Lead the electrical scope on projects and mentor junior staff.
