Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting seeks an Electrical Power Engineer to join our team in delivering design, analysis, and upgrades for industrial power systems. You will lead electrical scope on projects from concept through commissioning and mentor junior staff.

You will support design deliverables, performance of power-system studies, and field investigations. The role offers flexible location with hybrid or remote options and competitive compensation based on location and experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 3 years of electrical power systems engineering experience in industrial, utility, or consulting environment.
• Demonstrated experience designing or modifying medium-voltage (1 kV to 38 kV) and low-voltage systems.
• Hands-on modeling and study experience with SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, EasyPower, or equivalent.
• Travel willingness to sites (approximately 10%).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain power system models from field data and studies (load flow, short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, harmonics).
• Develop protective relay settings and coordination for feeders, transformers, motors, generators, and bus protection.
• Design and review electrical design deliverables (one-line/three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring interconnects).
• Size and rate equipment and conductors; ensure NEC/IEEE compliance.
• Support field activities: investigations, RFIs, commissioning, and shut/energization planning.
