Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting seeks an Electrical Power Engineer to design, analyze, and upgrade medium- and low-voltage power systems for industrial clients. You’ll lead electrical work on projects from concept through commissioning, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with multiple disciplines.

Hybrid/remote work is possible, with travel ~10% to project sites. You’ll ensure NEC/IEEE standards compliance, develop protective settings, and deliver robust electrical solutions across industries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 3 years of electrical power systems engineering experience in an industrial, utility, or consulting environment.
• Demonstrated experience designing or modifying medium-voltage (1 kV to 38 kV) and low-voltage power distribution systems.
• Hands-on modeling and study experience in SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, EasyPower, or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards applicable to industrial power systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical scope on moderate to large projects and mentor team members.
• Design and review electrical design deliverables (one-line diagrams, protection diagrams, drawings).
• Perform load flow, short-circuit, coordination studies, and arc flash analyses.
• Support field investigations, testing, commissioning, and energization activities.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and vendors and manage project risk.
